Savremena students are looking forward to spring and warm sunny days, especially because of the planned school trips and outdoor classes. In an attempt to invoke spring to our parts as soon as possible, designed and tailored fashionable spring hats made of paper, and even made paper dolls as models for their designer hats.

Year 3 students talked about hats with a lot of enthusiasm and created proper works of art – unique and fashionable designer hats. Many felt the desire to become fashion designers in the future. Perhaps they will someday. Maybe some of our students will grow to become famous designers specializing in hat-making.

We also discussed different types of hats, and students’ opinions were divided. Boys like cowboy and hunting hats the most, while girls prefer straw hats to wear on the beach, especially if they are decorated with flowers.

In this creative and engaging class, we went back in time and learned that in the Roman Empire, the hat was a symbol of freedom, because every man freed from slavery was given one, whereas ancient Egyptians preferred wigs to hats. We also mentioned the world-famous sombrero, part of the Mexican national costume.
