Eighth-grade students visited one of the Dorćol attractions – The Museum of Science and Technology
We explored the unusual world of science from a new perspective
Both eighth-grade classes visited the Museum of Science and Technology with their class teachers. Bearing in mind the cross-curricular material, they used this visit to the museum to refresh their knowledge and recall all the important things that happened in the field of science in our area.
From the moment he arrived, the museum curator introduced the students to the world of science through an interesting story about the development of electrical devices and cars, which the boys particularly liked, and which awakened great interest and curiosity about science.
The science playroom of the museum drew a lot of attention from the students. Eighth graders had the opportunity to see how sound travels through various sound objects, then how many times the bicycle wheels need to spin in order to turn on a light bulb, etc. The force of gravity, but also the perception of things in general, was tested by the students in the so-called “crooked room”, a room that was tilted at a certain angle, and seemingly nothing was in its place.
The students were also delighted with the objects that were once used in the household, and the huge cubical TVs were unimaginable to them compared to today’s TVs. They also made some interesting comments in relation to the old rotary telephones without displays.
The Museum of Science and Technology preserves the technological heritage and encourages scientific and research work in the field of history of science and technology, and has done a lot to adapt its contents to children, with the aim of raising awareness that cultural heritage should be preserved. This is also important for promoting science and technology as important areas of cultural life.
This was one truly different travel through time, history, and science. After such a visit, the students really have expanded their horizons. That is why the Museum of Science and Technology is a place that they will return to often! We look forward to visiting it again.
