Day Three of Children’s Week: Pupils Build a Digital City of Happiness
Through the interactive Figma platform, pupils combined creativity, digital skills and important messages about friendship and togetherness
The third day of Children’s Week at Savremena Primary School brought another creative and engaging activity. Pupils marked the occasion by using the interactive Figma platform to build an imaginary city in which everyone is happy.
Their task was not only to design the city, but also to think about what people need in order to feel safe, accepted and supported. In different parts of the city, pupils encountered problem situations which they discussed and solved together in a constructive way.
Through this activity, they developed much more than digital skills. They learnt how to listen to others, suggest solutions, cooperate and think about how their decisions can affect the wider community.
A particularly meaningful part of the activity was the digital “Tree of Kind Words”. Pupils created messages about friendship, support and understanding, designed their own sticky notes and placed them on the shared tree.
The third day of Children’s Week therefore connected digital creativity with important life values and showed how modern tools can become a space for learning, expression and collaborative creation.

Digital Tools in the Service of Togetherness
Using Figma gave pupils an opportunity to participate in a shared project in a visual and engaging way. Everyone was able to contribute their own ideas, while individual suggestions gradually became part of one common whole.
At Savremena Primary School, digital technology is used as a tool that helps pupils explore, create, cooperate and solve problems. This activity was therefore a good example of how technology can support both creative and social-emotional learning.
The problem situations within the imaginary city encouraged pupils to think about relationships, responsibility and ways in which misunderstandings can be resolved through communication and cooperation. Instead of receiving ready-made answers, pupils worked together to find solutions and discovered that different ideas can all contribute to a positive outcome.
The digital “Tree of Kind Words” also encouraged them to reflect on how support, understanding and carefully chosen words can affect other people.
In this way, one digital activity brought together creativity, communication, teamwork and empathy, skills that are important both at school and in everyday life.
A City of Happiness Created Together
The imaginary city created by the pupils became a space in which they could show how they imagine a community where people respect one another, offer support and solve problems together.
Every part of the city, every message and every suggestion gave pupils an opportunity to express their own ideas while also listening to those of their classmates. Through activities like these, children develop the confidence to speak, explain their thinking and accept that someone else may see things differently.
This type of learning is strongly encouraged at Savremena because it gives pupils an active role in the educational process. They are not simply given a task to complete, but a space in which they can explore, create and work together towards a solution.
The third day of Children’s Week was therefore much more than another creative activity. It gave pupils an opportunity to use a digital environment familiar to them to explore important topics, develop empathy and discover how a community can become better when everyone contributes their ideas and actions.
