Computer Science beyond the screen: An interesting panel discussion at Primary School Savremena
We celebrated World Development Information Day
Keeping up with the trends in education, a panel discussion was held at Primary School Savremena in honour of World Development Information Day.
Today, when technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, Primary School Savremena does not fall behind. As part of the celebration of World Development Information Day, we organised an intriguing panel discussion titled ‘Is computer science just about computers?’.
Thanks to the dedication and expertise of our teachers, Danijela Simonović, who teaches Technique and Technology, and Maja Babić, a Computer Science and Robotics teacher, students had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the role of computer science in society. In addition to the basic knowledge of techniques and technologies, we explored the following topics as well:
1. The importance of computer science in everyday life (is computer science all around us, how prevalent is it and does it exist without computers);
2. The influence of computer science on social life (does computer science impact social life, what is the difference between the impact of computer science development on online social life and real-life social life);
3. New opportunities and professions arising from the development of computer science (what computer science has brought to the development of new professions and which professions no longer exist).
By participating in vibrant debates, our students demonstrated their knowledge not only in computer science but also in the areas of media and digital literacy. We believe that this interactive approach is the best way for students to acquire and apply knowledge and we are happy to see their exceptional dedication to these activities.
