Competitive spirit of Savremena’s students: First school maths competition held
For days, the school was buzzing about the first school maths competition. On Thursday, 7 November, students in Years 3 through 5 demonstrated their competitive spirit and tested their knowledge of maths.
“We have been preparing for the competition for a while now, but I have to say the students are very talented and motivated, so it’s a pleasure working with them. They proved they are well-prepared in the competition. The competition was fierce, but four of our students qualified for the municipal competition. We are continuing our preparations and looking forward to the challenge” said Teacher Mirjana Ilić.
Preparation in class, maths workshops and school club
Education at Savremena is designed so as to introduce children to numbers, mathematical operations and various maths problems through play and entertainment from the very beginning. This way, children are encouraged to develop an interest in mathematics.
In addition, the teachers prepared their students for the competition in the maths workshops and math club using the latest technology to facilitate the acquisition of mathematical knowledge.
For Savremena’s students, mathematics is a fun science and they proved their mastery of it by scoring a high number of points in the competition.
Result: We qualified for the municipal competition!
The well-prepared little mathematicians, brandishing their competitive spirit gathered round in one of the classrooms in Savremena to test their knowledge. The competition was fierce, but four of our students qualified for the upcoming municipal maths competition!
Student of III-1 Hajdi Gajić scored the maximum number of points, 100 out of 100, and her classmate Luka Mitić was just 5 points behind and also secured his place in the municipal competition. Students of V-1, Lena Lešnjak and Lilita Miličić also achieved remarkable results and will join Hajdi and Luka in the upcoming competition.
We would like to congratulate all the contestants and wish good luck to Hajdi, Luka, Lena and Lilita. We have no doubt they will achieve remarkable results again!
Fun maths at Savremena
Students attending maths club and workshops at Savremena use robots to solve maths and computer programming problems thus adopting and expanding knowledge of mathematics and programming. This way, mathematics is presented as a fun activity that helps students to form a science-based view of the world.
Our teachers strive to develop mathematical curiosity in children and to present mathematics as a fun science. Through various math puzzles, fun methods of learning numbers and multiplication and division charts, interesting drawings and pictures for acquiring the knowledge of geometry, etc, students easily acquire mathematics education which is necessary for further education.
