CHILDREN’S WEEK AND CORNER DAY AT SAVREMENA – AN UNFORGETTABLE WORKSHOP EXPERIENCE FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS
Savremena’s Children’s Week has been full of different workshops, curricular and extracurricular activities. During Corner Day, the primary school students learnt a lot and went home happy and with smiles on their faces. The students enjoyed the corners in which they learnt through play. The activities included:
- language workshops;
- maths workshop;
- art and ecology workshop;
- sports and dance workshop;
- a workshop of interesting experiments;
- choir practice;
- “tradition” workshop.
Corner Day was a success – in one day, the students mastered dance moves, made a paper eco-sign, created various forms out of clay, solved logical tasks, conducted different experiments, and learnt lots of things from their teachers. This was a great day for the kids who were full of energy, as confirmed by one first-grader:
This is great! I love this day and this school! I enjoyed every workshop and I can’t wait to conduct experiments again tomorrow!
A LARGE, COLOURED ECO-SIGN – YES, IT’S POSSIBLE IN THE ART AND ECOLOGY WORKSHOP
Colours, coloured papers, collages, paper puzzles and other materials adorned the classroom during the art and ecology workshop. The children carefully listened to an environmental lecture and learnt about eco-signs, after which they were given a task to make an environmental symbol using the materials at hand. The children joined forces to make the eco-sign and a love symbol, a large heart, for their teacher:
Thanks to the teachers who teach us new things every day!
Creativity and new ideas were not the only abilities developed on this day. The students also exercised their nature smarts, which are important for raising awareness about environmental protection.
WORKSHOPS IN ENGLISH, FRENCH AND GERMAN FOR FUTURE POLYGLOTS
Language games, riddles, and forms of introduction were this time uttered in English, French and German. Interactive language workshops introduced the primary students to letters and sounds. This is the right way to learn a foreign language, which, if taught from early childhood, can be mastered and spoken as a mother tongue.
While speaking foreign languages, the students develop word smart intelligence, which leads to proper verbal and communication skills.
MATHS WORKSHOP AND INTERESTING EXPERIMENTS FOR DEVELOPING NUMBER SMART INTELLIGENCE
The students had no problem solving logical tasks. Problem-based learning, developed by teachers through play, influences the number smart intelligence which helps children understand logical links and symbols, as well as mathematical and scientific concepts. The development of this type of intelligence will enable the little scientists to become perfect programmers, which is the most-sought after profession today.
SAVREMENA’S WORKSHOPS AIMED AT DEVELOPING MULTIPLE INTELLIGENCES
At Savremena, multiple intelligences are developed through curricular and extracurricular activities that include multidisciplinary lessons and carefully designed tasks. The teachers have an important role in developing specific intelligences in children, as each student has numerous abilities and talents that need to be discovered and fostered.
There are multiple types and approaches to learning that are implemented at Savremena with a unique goal:
to encourage the development of multiple intelligences and provide the students with a comprehensive and complete education.
