Cambridge ICT Starters certificate award ceremony

Savremena’s students beaming with joy

This Friday, Savremena held the award ceremony for Cambridge ICT Starters certification. Third-graders were successful in the first part of the Cambridge examination, and received their certificates. They were the first students of Primary School Savremena to officially sit for ICT examination and they all passed with flying colours. There are five more such exams ahead of them, leading towards the diploma. The teacher in charge of the exam preparation throughout last year and this year, Ira Tuba, was the one who handed out the certificates, in a ceremony attended by the parents.

At Primary School Savremena, students adopt the most promising IT knowledge through regular lessons and extracurricular activities, according to the official Cambridge ICT Starters programme.

Cambridge ICT Starters is an international programme dedicated to knowledge from the IT realm, created for children up to 14 years of age. The objective is to introduce the students to the basics of information technology in order to ensure digital literacy and understanding the influence of technology on us.

ICT Starters comprises three levels: Initial Steps, Next Steps and On Track; at the end of each, the students receive an internationally recognised certificate that constitutes an excellent basis for further Cambridge ICT education.

The third-graders successfully passed the first part of Cambridge examination and we do not doubt that they will keep it up through the other levels, as the amount of knowledge they have already shown is impressive. Through carefully prepared activities, they have acquired the skills of reading and interpreting Excel charts, excelled at Word and expressed creativity and imagination working in Paint.

Savremena’s students will be ready to face the future

When it comes to the adoption of digital literacy, the children of today have a great advantage over their parents, as they start learning digital skills at a very early age. Many of these skills will prove crucial for their academic achievements and later professional life, as there is almost no niche or job on the market where the generation which is currently growing up will not require some form of digital literacy.

This is why Savremena makes sure to prepare its students for all the challenges of the 21st century.
