Another notable success, new competition awards for Savremena

Savremena at ``Golden Siren`` municipal competition

The “Golden Siren” competition has a long tradition of bringing together solo singers and small vocal ensembles from primary schools across the city of Belgrade. It unfolded through three levels: school, municipal and city. The year 2022 marks the return of the “Golden Siren” after a two-year hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic; this time, the competition tool place online. Savremena’s students did very well at the municipal competition, and one of our girls won the first place, which takes her into the final, city-level competition scheduled for early April.

Savremena had seven representatives from grades 1 through 5 at the municipal competition. They competed in three categories determined by grade and genre.

The first prize, along with a place in the city competition, which will be held on 8 April, was taken by Emili Francišković from our class 1-2. She competed in the first category with children’s pop song Jesenja sonata.

The second place was taken by four students from Savremena: Kira Francišković (1-2), Lara Radoičić (IV-1), Mihajlo Rodić and Hajdi Gajić (V-1). Kira competed in the first category, with the traditional folk song Višnjičica rod rodila; Lara sang in the second category, in the same genre, delivering Zeleni se, jagodo. Mihajlo Rodić also opted for a traditional Serbian folk song: Sini jarko sunce sa Kosova in the third category, while Hajdi chose the international folk song Sve ptičice zapjevale.

The third prize was won by Vana Vlaović, our 4-1 student, and Zoja Đurić from 5-1. Vana competed in the second category, singing Mi smo mnogo vredni bili composed by Boro Majdanac, while Zoja, in the third category, sang the old town romance Ajde, Kato.

We congratulate our students on these great results, and give due credit to their teachers Danica Nikolić and Branka Milićević and the music teacher Milošu Petroviću.
