ANOTHER CORNER DAY AT SAVREMENA: THE STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT DIFFERENT CULTURES
This time, the students attended workshops in which they familiarised themselves with various cultures: Serbian, Greek, Russian, American, Chinese and Canadian. This is because some of the students come from these countries, which gave a chance to everyone to get to know each other better.
Today, we learnt about different cultures around the world, which was really interesting. Now I know more about the countries my friends come from, their differences and similarities.
TRAVELLING AROUND THE WORLD WITH VR, INTERACTIVE QUIZZES AND MEMORY GAMES
The students learnt about different cultures through play. The interactive quizzes helped them with the geographical location, flags, population, main features and cultural landmarks.
A memory game enabled the students to test their knowledge and show their competitive spirit:
This is so much fun! We learnt about individual countries and cultures and then we played memory games. We got everything right!
Quizzes and other workshop games weren’t the only entertainment for the students. They had an interesting experience travelling around these countries with the help of VR headsets, which are often used in Savremena’s lessons in order to broaden the students’ imagination:
I visited Moscow once and I loved it; now I could go to Russia once more using the VR headset! I’m happy that I attend Savremena where we use modern technology that allows us to learn in a more efficient manner and provides us with experiences such as these.
KALINKA, GREEK DANCES, TRADITIONAL FOOD, BABUSHKAS AND A CREATIVE EXHIBITION
The students learnt the popular Russian song Kalinka from their Russian schoolmate, and they also found out that babushka is the most popular Russian souvenir. Delighted by this traditional doll, the little creative students came up with a great idea:
We’re going to make lots of babushkas in different sizes and colours and then organise an exhibition!
In dance club, the students had learnt their first dance moves. This time, they learnt the traditional Greek dance and familiarised themselves with unusual Chinese sports. Having learnt about the culture and tradition, the primary school students tasted the traditional food from these countries.
In addition, the students broadened their knowledge of America. They learnt about Thanksgiving Day, which they compared to the Serbian Slava, spotting the differences and discovering interesting facts about this day.
“LET’S RESPECT DIVERSITY AND LOVE OTHER CULTURES”
In addition to the creative and multidisciplinary lessons, in which the students combine knowledge from different areas, they also enjoy workshops, clubs and other activities which the teachers regularly design so that the students can learn about other nations and their cultures.
This inspires the students of Primary School Savremena and encourages them to explore their diverse interests.
