Sixth-grade students, as part of the required readings in Serbian language and literature, have the opportunity to learn about epic folk songs about Marko Kraljević. This time, their knowledge and understanding of what they read were tested by designing a game about Marko Kraljević. The students showed great enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge, and designing the game and answering the questions required great knowledge of the poems about this epic hero.

The game is played on a board that contains different fields, such as gathering power and weapons, resting, asking questions written on the cards, and helping. The students throw the dice and move on the board, and when Marko Kraljević passes all the squares, he will face a fight with Musa Kesedžija, which consists of answering questions. This is the most demanding part of the game because the questions are related not only to the content of the poems but also to literary theory, such as stylistic devices, types of verses and the like. The second class of sixth graders had a similar idea, but they added an element of rivalry to the game, so Musa Kesedžija moves at the same time as Marko Kraljević.

After testing the game, we concluded that there is room for improvement, but the main goal of the game was fulfilled – children had fun and showed their knowledge at the same time.

We have only words of praise for our Serbian language and literature teacher, Marina Gava, who in a creative and unique way presents students with complex learning material from our folk epic.
