Buzzing with excitement, and in the company of their parents and grandparents, the students of the most state-of-the-art school in the region stepped into another truly different school year. They did not miss the chance to hug the friends they hadn’t seen all summer, and of course, their teachers.

The first-graders had an introductory class to pave the way for a completely different experience in an institution that will carefully watch over them and all their needs. The children were thrilled, and immediately boarded the VR Starship, trying out several rides – through space, ocean depths, and in the desert. The Headmistress of Savremena Primary School gave the students and their parents a welcome speech, introducing them to the one-of-a-kind educational adventure ahead.

“Dear Savremena students, welcome to our school! Your first day here may have been a rainy one, but you and your parents will soon see that it does not really matter what the weather is like. The most important thing is how you feel and what kind of citizens you will develop into. We are here to provide you with everything you need to prepare both for the present, and for the future”, said Jasmina Franolić in her address.

When the students stepped into their classrooms, they were met with lights and bright colours. Savremena has always been associated with happiness, fun and innovation. This is exactly why parents who took a peek into the classrooms said that everything looked magical, and that the atmosphere reminded them of an unusual children’s realm where they would also like to spend time.

The former 4th-grade students greeted their new friends with a fantastic recital, dance choreography, and the performance of a children’s choir The Best Voice of Savremena.

Visibly excited performers said they could not wait to meet their very first homeroom teacher, proudly boasting that they are kids no longer, because being in the 5th grade means being one of the seniors in Savremena Primary School.

STARTER KITS, iPADS AND LAPTOPS FOR AN INCOMPARABLE SAVREMENA ADVENTURE

At the reception organised for the first-graders by Savremena, their very first school, students and parents were presented with all the details they needed to know. They also received their timetables for 1 September – the first day of school, balloons bearing the Savremena logo, and when they entered the classroom, a wonderful surprise awaited on their desks.

They were Starter kits, i.e. complete sets of school supplies. A Starter kit includes all the materials needed for a successful educational journey in Savremena. It primarily includes branded stationery that every student needs to make their school days as productive as possible. In addition, it also includes all the prescribed textbooks and workbooks, branded blank sheet music notebooks and standard notebooks, drawing blocks and material for various creative workshops.

Many children could not wait to try on their backpacks with the school’s logo, and immediately went to their lockers to arrange their school supplies and branded notebooks. They also received T-shirts with the school’s logo, physical education kit, a set of tracksuits for colder weather, and protective masks. The first-graders were particularly interested in the branded pencil cases which they could paint using the special colors provided in the case, in line with their artistic preferences.  

This way, students will be prepared for each class. In addition, the Starter kit also includes a school uniform which promotes equality and nurtures the spirit of belonging to Savremena. 

Apart from the school supplies, students also received gadgets that are used as an additional learning tool. Namely, we at Savremena seek to develop environmental awareness in our students,to take care of nature, and that is why we have reduced the use of paper to a minimum.

Therefore, we have provided iPads, laptops and desktop computers for all students to use in certain classes. There are also interactive boards and smart desks that students can use to learn through play.

THE PERFORMANCE OF SAVREMENA BALLET TROUPE LEFT THE AUDIENCE IN AWE

The proud girls from the Savremena’s ballet workshop held by the BeoBalet dance school performed a magical piece to welcome the youngest students – the new generation of Savremena first-graders. Their performance combined several ballet pieces which left the audience in awe.

The Savremena ballet troupe consists of little ballerinas who attend the most state-of-the-art school in the region. Their skill and talent are perhaps best illustrated by the fact that they recently performed at the National Theatre.

Congratulations to them and to all who begin the best adventure of their life on 1 September.
