A Lecture on Human Trafficking at Savremena: Illuminating the Topic of Traffickin

Education and Activism

In the spirit of International Human Rights Day, the Contemporary Elementary School has successfully realized a series of forums dedicated to raising awareness of human trafficking.

As part of the school’s plan for prevention and marking International Human Rights Day, principal Milena Tarbuk initiated an important dialogue on the topic of trafficking with eighth graders. Through a series of forums in the seventh and eighth grades, students became acquainted with the complexity of this global issue.

Interactive learning and discussion

The beginning of the forums was marked by informing about upcoming activities, followed by a screening of an animated film about trafficking. Eighth grade students: Aleksandra Mamuzić, Mina Drezgić, Lazar Bulat, Amila Alibašić, using a presentation, introduced students to what human trafficking is, the ways it is conducted, risk factors, and the consequences it leads to.

Students Masimo Marinković, Pavle Mićić, Mia Milošević, Luka Plavšić, and Lav Vukasović performed acting scenes demonstrating ways of recruiting potential victims and examples of how one should and should not react in such situations.

Students Natalija Valjarević, Mateja Baralić, and Đorđe Tešić assisted in the realization, replacing absent participants in some classes.

The discussion with seventh and eighth-grade students was productive, focused on considering effective protection strategies and responses, with special emphasis on challenges in the digital environment. This event inspired active participation and interest from students, highlighting the importance of continuous education and raising young people’s awareness of vital social issues like human trafficking.
