Eight students won prizes at “Misliša 2021” maths competition
Savremena’s primary students shine – four first prizes in a competition of 23,700 students
Savremena’s eight incredible mathematicians amazed everyone with the results they achieved at the 16th instalment of the “Misliša 2021” maths competition organised by the prestigious Archimedes Mathematical Society.
Savremena’s primary students won 4 first prizes, 2 second and 1 third prize, and one commendation!
The students faced serious competition at this renowned event – 23,700 students from 345 primary schools around Serbia. However, our representatives managed to achieve outstanding results! Although faced with a big challenge, they showed they were among the best primary school students in Serbia.
With great support from their mentors, which is something typical of a school that fosters student talent, the little ones showed excellent skills and won four gold medals. The students surpassed last year’s performance, which shows the level of dedication and the hard work implemented at the school.
OUR MEDAL WINNERS – THE PRIDE OF OUR SCHOOL
Daria Denisova, Petar Stamenić, Vojin Janjušević and Konstantin Petrović – these are the golden students in class II-1 who climbed the throne of one of the most important maths competitions in the country. Their success is no accident. Last year, Daria and Petar achieved notable results, which encouraged their schoolmates and assured them that great success comes with dedication and hard work.
Maksim Joksimovć and Ognjen Simić from the same class also achieved great results; they nearly missed the gold medal and had to settle for the silver one. Third place and the bronze medal went to Marko Stojić from IV-1, while Petra Počuča from II-2 received commendation.
The women behind the students’ success are the teachers who have invested a lot of creativity and enthusiasm into the little one’s performance. We should give a special mention to class II-1, which won the most prizes, and their teacher Branka Đurović who, given last year’s performance, is a true expert when it comes to preparing students for this type of competition.
All these students are curious, versatile, and successful in many areas. Their accomplishment will give a boost to their schoolmates, inspiring them to pursue this path of knowledge, play and sportsmanship.
But the race is far from over. Four of our Year 2 students are preparing for the second level of the competition, the national-level finals scheduled for 25 April 2021.
Serious preparations are underway, and we’re confident in their knowledge, dedication and motivation!
“MISLIŠA” ENCOURAGES LOGICAL THINKING AND A LOVE OF MATHS
“Misliša” is a national maths competition for primary and secondary students, organised by the Archimedes Mathematical Society in Belgrade since 2006. The ideas behind the contest is to promote mathematics and motivate students to develop logical and combinatorial skills and a love of this scientific branch through interesting tasks and problems.
Congratulations to our fantastic eight – we’re hoping for even more accomplishments and prizes! We’re cheering for Darija, Petra, Vojin and Konstantin to bring more gold medals, this time from the national-level competition scheduled for 25 April.
