An art class turned into a creative workshop
Technology and education hand in hand
First-grade students of Savremena Primary School had the opportunity to showcase their imagination and skills during art class by making unique magnets from magnetic tape and modelling clay. This activity combined learning, play, and artistic expression, while giving children the joy of creating objects they could proudly take home and share with their families.
In addition to developing their creative potential, pupils also learned that every idea needs a process – from its initial spark to the finished product – which requires dedication and imagination. In this way, they discovered in a fun and engaging manner how important it is to see each idea through to the end.

Creativity in action
During the class, students discovered how simple materials can be transformed into fun and useful objects. Modelling clay allowed them to create various figures – from animals, flowers, and hearts to completely abstract forms – while the magnetic tape gave their small works of art practical use as magnets for fridges or boards.
This way, the children could see that their imagination has no limits and that even the simplest ideas can be turned into something tangible and lasting. The classroom became a small art studio where every child had the chance to step into the role of a young designer.
Developing skills through play
Beyond the fun, kids were also building important motor and cognitive skills. Working with modelling clay supports fine motor development, patience, and focus, while experimenting with magnets sparked curiosity and introduced children to basic principles of physics. In this way, they learned and explored the world around them through play.
Such classes are especially valuable because they allow children to develop abilities through playful, hands-on tasks that will benefit them both in school and in everyday life. At the same time, students cultivated the habit of exploring and finding creative solutions – a foundation of modern education.
The joy of creating together
The greatest value of the class was in teamwork, as the pupils shared ideas, helped one another, and celebrated every finished piece together. The classroom was filled with joy, laughter, and colours, and their creative works showed how unique each child is and how much they contribute to the spirit of the group. Each child took home a unique magnet – a small symbol of their first school days and shared memories.
These joint activities help strengthen teamwork and friendships, which are just as important as academic knowledge. In this way, everyday school life becomes filled with experiences that build not only skills and knowledge, but also values of togetherness, support, and friendship.
