The Top Detectives of the Brainfinity Detectives Project Announced!

As part of the Erasmus+ project Brainfinity Detectives – Collaborative Project Solving, involving Primary School Savremena and the Institute for Contemporary Education from Serbia, a national competition for students from Year 5 to Year 8 in solving detective problems was held on 8 December. The tasks were formulated by project partners from Bulgaria, Slovenia, and Portugal, in collaboration with our experts. Interestingly, the tasks were in English, which required additional effort and critical thinking. However, our young detectives rose to the challenge successfully!

32 Teams from Across Serbia

A total of 32 teams from all over Serbia participated, with some joining this competition for the first time. The hosts from Primary School Savremena ensured all participants had optimal conditions for the event, while valuable prizes were provided for the winners. The competition took place in the facilities of Savremena Gimnazija and Information Technology School. A group of volunteers – secondary school and university students from Savremena Gimnazija, ITHS, IS, and ITS – helped ensure everything ran smoothly and captured the highlights of the day in photos and videos.

National Competition Winners

Winners were announced in all four categories:

  • Year 5 Category – The best solutions were provided by the Pluton team from “Dule Karaklajić” Primary School in Lazarevac, mentored by teacher Savica Tarić.
  • Year 6 Category – Despite stiff competition, the nine-member jury awarded the highest points to the Mozgići team from “Živadin Apostolović” Primary School in Trstenik, mentored by teacher Olivera Nešić.
  • Year 7 Category – A narrow margin determined the victory of the Minioni team from “Vuk Karadžić” Primary School in Belgrade, mentored by teacher Marina Lakčević.
  • Year 8 Category – Absolute dominance was achieved by the experienced Ahilove Pete team from “Živadin Apostolović” Primary School in Trstenik, also mentored by teacher Olivera Nešić, with an impressive score of 98 out of 100 points.

Representing Serbia on the International Stage

These four winning teams will represent Serbia at the international Brainfinity competition, organised as part of the Erasmus+ project Brainfinity Detectives. The international competition is scheduled for 10 May 2025 and will also take place in Belgrade. We eagerly await the names of their rivals from Portugal, Bulgaria, and Slovenia, where national competitions will be held next weekend.
