School Competition in Serbian Language and Literature
When Knowledge Becomes Competition
Savremena Primary School held a school competition in Serbian language and literature, where students from fifth, sixth, and seventh grades demonstrated their level of knowledge of their native language, grammar, and literature. Around ten students per grade accepted the challenge, and the most successful qualified for the municipal competition. The competition wasn’t just a test of knowledge – it was an opportunity for students to show how much they love the language they speak, write, and think in every day.
The results speak of serious preparation, careful reading, and understanding of language as a living system. Every student who placed in the top three in their grade advanced to the municipal competition, where they will represent Savremena and compete with the best from other schools.

Best in Their Grades
In fifth grade, Aleksandra Antić won first place, Vasilije Stevanović and Arsen Šakić shared second place, while Mila Đinović took third place. Four students, four placements – a promising beginning.
Sixth grade brought the following results: Agljam Nurgalijev (VI-1) won first place, Natalija Mladenović (VI-2) second, and Andrej Joksimović third place. Each of them demonstrated a confident grasp of grammar, spelling, and interpretation of literary works.
Seventh grade also had clear winners. Petar Stamenić (VII-1) won first place, Aleksandar Brkić (VII-1) second, and Jegor Busigin (VII-1) third place. The results show how important it is to nurture love for language throughout elementary school – knowledge is built gradually, and competitions are just confirmation of what is learned daily.
Serbian Language as Foundation
The competition in Serbian language and literature is not just a test of grammatical rules. It’s an opportunity for students to show how well they understand language as a whole – how they use it, how they analyze it, how they recognize stylistic devices, how they interpret texts. It’s a skill that isn’t learned only in Serbian class – it’s built through reading, writing, thinking, and discussion.
We congratulate all students who participated in the school competition, and especially those who qualified for the municipal competition. Aleksandra, Vasilije, Arsen, Mila, Agljam, Natalija, Andrej, Petar, Aleksandar, and Jegor – we wish you great success at the upcoming competition. Represent Savremena with pride and show that language is not just a subject, but part of who we are.
