“The Feelings Box”- Joint creation of mothers and students
Learning with Heart
Students of Grade II3 at Savremena Primary School experienced an art class that turned into a true journey through emotions, creativity, and togetherness. On the initiative of their mothers, a special project was created – “My Feelings Box”, through which children learned in a creative way how to recognise, express, and share what they feel.
From the moment parents joined their children in the classroom, the atmosphere was filled with smiles, warmth, and colours. In an encouraging and cheerful environment, each child decorated their own box – a symbol of their inner world. With cutting, gluing, colouring, and conversation, every box became unique – just like the emotions of every child.
A particularly touching moment came when children, together with their mothers, created the class feelings box – a shared space of trust, empathy, and sincerity. In this box, every child can anonymously place a note expressing how they have felt that day – whether it’s happiness, pride, sadness, disappointment, or anger.
During class community sessions (ČOŠ), students and their teacher will read the messages from the box together and discuss them – trying to understand one another, offer support, and learn how to recognise the emotions of others. These sessions become a safe space where children learn that empathy is not just a word, but a skill nurtured through attention, listening, and understanding. 💖

🧩 Learning with Heart – Through the Collaboration of Children and Parents
What made this class special is that parents were an active part of the process. Through the joint creation of the boxes, they showed their children that emotions matter — that talking about them brings connection and relief. The children proudly presented their creations and discovered that art can be a beautiful way to express feelings that are hard to put into words.
Through projects like this, Savremena Primary School reminds us that education is not only about learning facts, but also about developing emotional intelligence, compassion, and mutual trust. Because in the school of the future, it’s equally important to learn how to calculate and how to understand — both the heart and the numbers. 💫
For Savremena, this is yet another example that a school can be a place where children grow in safety, understanding, and support — because every emotion matters, and every child deserves to be heard.
