Student Parliament: Let's talk without fear – The Trust Box brings magic to our school
An important step in building a healthy school culture
The Student Parliament was formed at the end of September and its members are selected students from the seventh and eighth grades, and this is their first activity.
Members of the Student Parliament are Tara Ponjević and Lazar Todorović from class VII-1; Maja Milutinović and Anika Ranković from class VII-2; Stamatios Petros Cintomis and Miloš Janković from class VII-3; Aleksandra Mamuzić and Jovan Čović from class VIII-1; and Amila Alibašić and Mia Milošević from class VIII-2.
One of the first activities was the creation and placement of the Trust Box in the school corridor. This box serves as a safe place where students who hesitate to speak publicly about something that troubles them put their anonymous messages.
The idea is to open the box once a week and read the messages. Depending on the content of the message, those affected by it will be informed with the aim of resolving misunderstandings or problems together. In this process, discretion is guaranteed, as well as the support of the school staff, primarily the psycho-pedagogical service.
Why is the Trust Box important
First and foremost, the Trust Box provides students with a safe and anonymous space to share their feelings, concerns and dilemmas that they may not be ready to share publicly.
This is crucial, especially in adolescence when many students go through various challenges and changes but may feel ashamed or hesitant to share them with their peers or teachers.
Also, opening the Trust Box once a week, followed by reading the messages, allows school staff, especially the psycho-pedagogical service, to quickly identify the needs and problems of students. Such a system supports prompt response and provides support to those who need it.
