Small Hearts, Big Emotions: Primary School Savremena Celebrates Children’s Week Through Art, Creativity, and Empathy as Essential Life Skills
Creativity and Empathy as Key Life Skills
During a week dedicated to children, Primary School Savremena commemorated Children’s Week with specialized Life Skills workshops centered on the theme “Emotions and Art”. Under the slogan “I am a child, I have a plan: tolerance and love for every day”, students were afforded the opportunity to explore the ways in which emotions shape behavior and how these emotions can be expressed creatively through artistic activities and discussions.
Connecting with Emotions Through Art and Conversation
Through engaging workshops, our young participants delved into core emotions such as joy, fear, love, worry, and compassion. Art teacher Sara Drobnjaković and psychologist Katarina Mladenović facilitated interactive sessions in which the children learned to recognize and express their emotions in a healthy and creative manner. During these workshops, students created drawings and collages that depicted their emotions in various life situations. Amidst laughter and heartfelt conversations, they constructed a “Wall of Emotions” – a distinctive display that illustrates their experiences and expressions of feelings such as joy upon achieving something new or compassion when a friend is feeling sad. This visual representation of their feelings and thoughts has become a symbol of empathy and unity within the school community.
Preparing for the Real World by Developing Emotional Intelligence
The Life Skills workshops at Primary School Savremena are meticulously designed to address the needs of children in the real world, providing them with a space to understand and process their emotions, cultivate empathy and compassion, and enhance their communication skills across various contexts. Participants learned when and how emotions can be beneficial, as well as when they may pose challenges, with a focus on developing emotional intelligence to foster better relationships and enable them to become successful individuals in society.
Through these workshops, children reaped numerous benefits, including:
– Developing compassion and respect for others
– Understanding and expressing emotions through art
– Learning the importance of living and cooperating harmoniously
– Strengthening conflict resolution skills
Our students concluded the week filled with inspiration and newfound insights, proudly observing the “Wall of Emotions” that adorns the school hall, serving as a reminder of the significance of tolerance and love in everyday life. Primary School Savremena remains committed to innovation through programs that equip children for the future by cultivating skills essential for a successful and fulfilling life.
