Seventh Graders Take on the Role of Teachers
Students Iva and Kasija delivered a Nature and Society class as part of the “Big Sister, Little Brother” project
When students learn from one another, the most inspiring classroom moments happen. That’s exactly the kind of atmosphere that filled class IV-3 at Savremena Primary School, where seventh-grade students Iva Dolovac and Kasija Janković stepped into the role of teachers and led an engaging Nature and Society lesson. The activity was part of the school project “Big Sister, Little Brother,” which promotes intergenerational learning, empathy, and responsibility among students.

Young learners, great focus
Iva and Kasija carefully prepared their lesson — designing a content-rich presentation that was tailored to the fourth-graders’ level, while still being challenging enough to spark curiosity and questions. Through an interactive presentation, the younger students were introduced to fascinating facts from the world of nature and society, learning in a way that was relatable and accessible — guided by older peers who understand their perspective.
Knowledge check with a smile
To see how much the students had learned, Iva and Kasija created a short knowledge check. This part of the lesson unfolded in a cheerful, relaxed atmosphere — more like a fun activity than a test. The feedback was excellent: the younger students demonstrated a strong understanding of the material, and the older girls proudly observed the results of their hard work.
Activities like this strengthen the sense of community at Savremena Primary School and show that every student has the opportunity to grow — not just academically, but also as a role model. The “Big Sister, Little Brother” project continues to nurture connections across generations and encourages the development of leadership, confidence, and teamwork among our students.
