Recently, students from Primary School Savremena visited the City Library “Meša Selimović”, where they had the opportunity to dive into the world of books, explore the rich literary collection, and learn more about the importance of reading and librarianship. This visit was a unique chance for the students to get acquainted with the workings of the library, the literary treasures it preserves, and the significance of preserving the written word.

During their library tour, students participated in interactive workshops where librarians presented them with the most interesting titles in children’s literature. For many, it was a revelation as they learned, for the first time, how book lending works, how books are archived and preserved, and how essential it is to nurture a love for reading. Students also learned about the library’s role as an important cultural hub in the city.

Through inspiring conversations with librarians and readings of selected passages, the students felt the power of literature that encourages them to dream, learn, and develop their talents. At the end of the visit, the students expressed their desire to return to the library more often and to explore books that will broaden their horizons and spark their creativity.
