Savremena Preschoolers Visit the “Igralište” Kindergarten
Discovering Nature Through Play and Creative Expression
During their visit to the “Igralište” kindergarten, Savremena preschoolers took part in a thoughtfully designed workshop inspired by the world of plants. Surrounded by natural materials, photos and textures, children explored different types of flowers, leaves and houseplants, comparing their shapes, colours and unique characteristics.
The highlight of the workshop was creating imaginative frames made from plant photographs. Each child selected images that inspired them, arranged them into a personal composition and, in doing so, practised visual perception, fine motor skills and small but meaningful decision-making.
Through conversations with educators, children learned why plants matter in everyday life, how to take care of them and why observing nature with attention and respect is important. These activities are closely aligned with Savremena’s Life Skills approach, which helps children develop practical knowledge from an early age.
The workshop also encouraged teamwork – children exchanged ideas, chose materials together and sometimes cooperated on shared creations, working as a small team of curious explorers.

A Rich Learning Environment That Encourages Curiosity and Independence
Beyond the creative activities, our preschoolers explored the different thematic centres within the kindergarten. “Igralište” provides an environment that treats children as active participants in learning, offering well-designed zones for reading, construction, symbolic play and hands-on discovery.
Children browsed picture books, discussed story characters, used sensory and manipulative materials and experimented with simple tasks using their hands. In one centre, children observed plants using a magnifying glass; in another, they experimented with mixing colours, shapes and patterns, stimulating imagination and logical thinking.
What stood out most was how confidently they navigated a new environment — exploring independently while also knowing when to seek support. With guidance from educators from Savremena and “Igralište,” they talked about what a kindergarten day looks like in a different setting and what they find interesting, unusual or challenging.
Such experiences strengthen adaptability and independence — key competencies for the next steps in their educational journey.
Building Social Skills Through Shared Experiences
The visit was also a valuable opportunity to develop social and emotional skills, which are a core part of Savremena’s preschool philosophy. Through shared play, cooperation and small group challenges, children learned how to take turns, understand the needs of peers and include others in their activities.
In this new environment, they demonstrated the ability to connect with other children, communicate confidently and respond with empathy — skills essential for a successful transition to school. Educators encouraged collaboration through pair and group tasks, and children eagerly took on different roles, whether as “story readers,” “plant explorers” or “material keepers.”
These shared experiences build confidence and a sense of belonging. Preschoolers learn to navigate changing situations, recognise emotions in themselves and others and form respectful, supportive relationships — values deeply rooted in Savremena’s approach.
By the end of the visit, children proudly showed their creations, shared impressions of the activities they enjoyed most and left with smiles that clearly showed how meaningful this day had been. For our preschoolers, this was more than just an outing — it was another step in their growth, development and preparation for future school challenges.
