Safe Child in the Digital World: A Parent Seminar at Primary School Savremena
Digital Devices and Child Development: Challenges and Benefits
Modern technology has become an integral part of everyday life, and its impact on children’s development is increasingly attracting the attention of both parents and experts. For this reason, Primary School Savremena held a seminar yesterday titled “Safe Child in the Digital World”, where parents had the opportunity to learn about the latest insights regarding the effects of digital devices on children’s cognitive and emotional development.
The seminar was led by the school principal, Uroš Veličković, psychologists Katarina Mladenović and Milena Tarbuk, and English teacher Nađa Đorđević, who engaged in an interactive discussion to highlight the key aspects of this important topic and provide parents with valuable advice on how to approach the digital age with their children.
The use of digital devices brings numerous advantages but also poses certain challenges when it comes to children’s growth and development. Experts discussed how technology can enhance creativity, provide quicker access to information, and facilitate the learning process. On the other hand, improper or excessive screen time can negatively impact attention span, concentration, and emotional well-being.
A particular emphasis was placed on the issue of excessive screen time, as well as potential consequences such as reduced social interaction, sleep problems, and increased anxiety in children. Parents were presented with practical ways to set clear boundaries for digital device usage while respecting their children’s needs and interests.
How Can Parents Help? A Supportive and Understanding Approach

One of the key questions parents raised was how to find a balance between the benefits and risks of the digital world. Experts highlighted the importance of open communication and trust-building, which can help prevent potential issues and encourage healthy digital habits.
Psychologists emphasized that instead of imposing strict bans, it is more important to guide children – parents should offer high-quality digital content, encourage creative use of technology, and engage in conversations about potential challenges such as internet safety and privacy protection.
At Primary School Savremena we place great emphasis on the emotional development and mental well-being of our students, and parents are our key partners in this process. That’s why we organize seminars like this one, providing them with support and tools to better understand the digital world their children are growing up in.
Primary School Savremena: A Place Where We Care for Every Child
The “Safe Child in the Digital World” seminar is just one of many educational activities we organize to support parents and ensure the healthy development of our students. In addition to expert seminars, Primary School Savremena regularly conducts workshops, lectures, and programmes that foster social skills, empathy, and emotional intelligence in children.
Our school not only keeps up with modern educational trends but also adapts them to the needs of both children and parents, creating an environment where children learn how to be safe, responsible, and aware of their emotions and behavior in the digital world.
Parents who attended the seminar expressed their gratitude for the useful advice and support, while the experts concluded that balance and active parental involvement in children’s digital lives are the keys to a safe and healthy upbringing.
