To mark 60 years of literary achievement, celebrated author Jovica Đurđić visited our school, delighting Year 3 and Year 4 students with his poetry, gifts, and personal dedications

Primary School Savremena had the honour of welcoming a luminary of local literature, Jovica Đurđić, during this year’s book fair week. In celebration of 50 years since his first published book and 60 years of writing, Mr Đurđić has reprinted his beloved works for children and set off on a literary journey across the country – with a special stop at our school.

Mr Đurđić shared his poems about giraffes drinking coffee, first kisses, and playful childhood adventures with the children. Captivated by every line, the students laughed, applauded, and even chimed in to complete his verses – thrilled to be in the presence of a true author.

At the end of the session, Mr Đurđić announced that each student would receive a copy of one of his books as a gift, sparking cheers and excitement from everyone in attendance! A line quickly formed for signed dedications, as Mr Đurđić patiently wrote personalised messages for each child, leaving a lasting impression in their books.

In addition to the books for students, Mr Đurđić generously donated a collection of his works to the school library.
