“Parents at Work” - Visit to the ``Mons Aureus`` winery

A visit to remember

As part of the “Parents at Work” project, second-grade students had the opportunity to learn outside the classroom, in a real environment where knowledge becomes experience and learning turns into an adventure. This special school day took them to the “Mons Aureus” winery, lovingly run by the parents of their classmate Đorđe. The goal of this project is to help students discover what their parents do, understand the value of work, and see how passion and effort can create something truly meaningful.

The visit beautifully connected education, nature, and friendship — students explored the winemaking process, learned about vineyards, and talked about how family and teamwork play an important role in success. On this day, their classroom was replaced by the open sky, the scent of grapes, and the warmth of kind hosts, making learning a joyful experience they will remember. 🌿

The students of class II-1 were warmly welcomed at “Mons Aureus”, where Đorđe’s parents introduced them to every step of the winemaking process — from the harvest and grape pressing to aging and bottling. The children were fascinated and full of questions: “How does grape juice turn into wine?”, “Why do barrels have to rest?”, and “How long does it take to make one bottle?”

Their hosts explained everything in a simple and engaging way, helping the children understand how nature and science work together. They discovered that behind every bottle of wine there is hard work, patience, and love for what you do.
After the tour, the students visited the vineyard itself, where they touched the grapevines, smelled the earth, and saw how much care each plant requires. This direct connection with nature made them realize that learning happens everywhere — not just in books. The “Parents at Work” project once again proved how practical experiences inspire curiosity, respect, and creativity in young minds.

A Day Filled with Smiles, Gratitude, and New Lessons

After the educational part of the visit, the children enjoyed some time in the winery’s courtyard, playing games, talking, and enjoying healthy snacks and homemade treats. The day was filled with laughter, sunshine, and joy — and many students admitted they didn’t want to leave! In that relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, they learned one of life’s most important lessons: that work can be fulfilling when it’s done with love and passion.

Teachers highlighted how valuable such experiences are, as they teach children about empathy, gratitude, and appreciation for the effort adults put into their everyday lives. Projects like this strengthen the bond between school and family, showing that education goes beyond textbooks — it’s about learning from real life.
Savremena Primary School is deeply grateful to Đorđe’s parents for opening the doors of their world and creating a beautiful learning experience. The day spent at “Mons Aureus” winery was not just a field trip — it was a heartfelt lesson in community, nature, and kindness that the students will remember for a long time. 💛
