Parents and Experts Discussed Grading at the Panel ``Every Grade is a Good Grade``

Savremena Primary School Hosts Open Discussion on the Impact of Grading on Student Development

Savremena Primary School recently held a panel discussion titled “Every Grade is a Good Grade,” gathering parents, teachers, and experts with a shared goal of opening up the conversation around grading and redefining how grades are approached.

Savremena Parenting for Academic Success

This panel is part of the Savremena Parenting for Academic Success project, designed to support parents and the school in their joint mission to provide children with a quality educational experience based on knowledge, skills, and individual progress.

The event opened with speeches from the school’s principal, Uroš Veličković, school counselor Katarina Mladenović, and representatives of teachers, students, and parents. Each panelist shared their perspective on grades and their impact on children, with the discussion quickly moving towards ways to reduce the stress associated with grading.

Shared Conclusions and New Approaches to Grading

Through constructive dialogue, parents and experts arrived at several key conclusions. Among the most notable was the idea that grades should not be the sole indicator of success; a broader range of each child’s skills and potential should be valued. “It’s not just a number on paper that defines us,” said Katarina Mladenović, emphasizing the need for a holistic approach to education.

It was agreed that efforts would be made to develop new assessment methods that reduce pressure on children while supporting their growth and motivation. Parents also expressed interest in additional workshops and training to help them better understand the grading process and provide support at home.

This panel marks an important step towards creating a healthier relationship with grading and strengthening the partnership between school and parents.
