MUNICIPAL FIRST AID COMPETITION HELD AT PRIMARY SCHOOL SAVREMENA
Life-saving knowledge: Students demonstrate skills and compassion in action
This weekend, the courtyard of Primary School Savremena in New Belgrade was the scene of a special event – the municipal First Aid competition, organized by the Red Cross of New Belgrade. The competition brought together students from both primary and secondary schools across the municipality, who showcased remarkable knowledge, courage, and readiness to act swiftly and correctly in emergency situations.
Amidst a competitive spirit, with plenty of enthusiasm and support, young participants demonstrated various first aid scenarios – from treating injuries to performing CPR. Beyond the competition itself, the event carried a strong educational message: first aid knowledge is essential for everyone, especially young people, who can already become lifesavers today.

Why is first aid knowledge invaluable
First aid is the first and most crucial link in the chain of survival. In many situations – whether it’s a traffic accident, an injury at school or home, or a sudden health emergency – timely and proper action can save lives. That’s why it is vital for children to learn from an early age how to recognize danger, stay calm, and provide assistance in the right way.
These skills not only foster a sense of responsibility and compassion but also strengthen children’s confidence. When they know how to help, children feel empowered, capable, and ready to make a difference in even the most difficult moments.
Learning through practice – children as heroes
The competition at Primary School Savremena was not just a chance to showcase acquired knowledge, but also a great example of learning through practical experience. Students were tasked with solving realistic scenarios – complete with role players, equipment, and time constraints. This allowed them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world conditions, demonstrating their serious and committed approach to this important topic.
It is particularly significant that both primary and secondary school students participated – children of different ages proved that solidarity and care for others know no age limits. Events like this nurture empathy, teamwork, and mutual respect – values essential in both everyday life and emergency situations.
Primary School Savremena – a place of knowledge, values, and community
The decision to host such an important competition at Primary School Savremena was no coincidence. As an institution that supports the holistic development of its students – not only academically, but also personally, socially, and emotionally – Savremena shows just how much it invests in promoting vital life skills and socially responsible initiatives.
By opening its doors to this significant event, the school confirms its role as a place where knowledge is put into practice, where universal values are taught, and where students are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities.
We are especially proud that Primary School Savremena students won first place in the competition, demonstrating impressive knowledge, resourcefulness, and compassion. Their victory is not just the result of hard work, but also a testament to the power of youth to take responsibility and offer help when it matters most. Congratulations to our outstanding students on their well-deserved success!
