MULTIDISCIPLINARY LEARNING

COMBINING DIFFERENT APPROACHES TO LEARNING FOR THE MOST INTERESTING SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

Savremena aims to make sure that its students become responsible young people equipped with knowledge and skills fit for the 21st century. This is why we have created an environment conducive to the development of responsible, curious and creative children, capable of solving problems through research, exploration and teamwork; children dedicated to the community and the environment to which they belong. To realise such ambitious goals, we implement cutting-edge approaches in methodology. One of the most important is, of course, multidisciplinary learning.

STIMULATING CHILDREN’S TALENTS

This form of individual approach is based on Harvard’s multiple intelligence development programme. Through a personalised and innovative approach in an environment enriched with contemporary technology, your child becomes a part of a comprehensive, eco-aware, creative teaching process. Thanks to a comprehensive approach to a child’s personality and the application of various teaching methods, the existing talents are developed, and the hidden ones set free in each student. The end result is a self-confident child with a strong will to learn.

CONTEMPORARY PEDAGOGICAL APPROACH

The blend of traditional and innovative methodical approaches makes the teaching process at Savremena varied, rich and stimulative. The goal of every lesson is to kindle the passion for knowledge and enrich them with key skills. As a result, your child adopts the ability crucial for success in the 21st century: the passion for lifelong learning.

The teaching process is multifaceted and filled with the most successful teaching techniques and principles:

  • Affinity-based learning
  • Developing concentration and focus
  • Reflective learning
  • Eco-aware education
  • Harvard’s multiple intelligence development programme
  • Becoming familiar with various learning techniques

THIS IS WHAT A MULTIDISCIPLINARY ICT LESSON LOOKS LIKE AT SAVREMENA

The students are presented with a problem situation: A robot with three people (astronauts) who discovered very important information about Mars has malfunctioned. Three robots need to be made and launched (programmed) in order to fix the robot on Mars and save the stranded astronauts, who are slowly running out of food and water.

Class VR devices are used in order to make the situation vivid for the student; the virtual reality technology will let the students experience life on Mars and see where they need to send the robots, which they will create themselves.

The students are then divided into three groups and make the robots: the first group needs to make an mBot robot, which will take food, water and tools to mars; the second group – Makeblock Arm Tank robot, which will transport the astronauts, while the third group assembles the Camera Dolly robot, which will record the entire expedition. When the robots are assembled, each group needs to program its robot for these functions.

Through these tasks, the students use play to acquire, in a vivid way, knowledge about planets; acquire knowledge about the planets, learn the basics of programming, engineering, mathematics and logic, all the while developing the problem-solving ability, algorithmic thinking, teamwork and empathy.

THE RESULT – CHILDREN READY FOR THE 21st CENTURY

Thanks to the multidisciplinary approach, children adopt key knowledge and abilities necessary for success in the 21st century with complete understanding. The possession of these skills makes for a great foundation that lets kids develop into complete personalities.

At Savremena, your child learns:

  • How to be the best version of himself/herself (Learn to Be).
  • How to be active and capable (Learn to Do).
  • How to collaborate and function as a part of a team (Learn to Collaborate).
  • How to live with others and care about the environment (Learn to Coexist).
  • How to learn independently (Learn to Learn).

Multidisciplinary lessons and interactive teaching are the most powerful way for the student to develop the crucial skills necessary for success in the 21st century and to grow into a responsible young person and creative leader of the future.
