Magic glasses for the world we imagine

The World We Want

This week, classrooms at Savremena Primary School turned into a space of imagination, colour, and big ideas. Through a creative art activity, students designed and coloured their own magic glasses – glasses through which they could see the ideal world they would like to live in. 😊
The task was simple, yet powerful: to imagine a world they would love to be part of and show it as they truly see it – honestly, freely, and without limits.

The World Through Children’s Eyes

Each child had the opportunity to design their own pair of glasses: choosing the shape, colours, and what could be seen through them. On the “lenses,” scenes of nature appeared – seas, mountains, sunshine, trees, animals, houses filled with light – as well as hearts, smiles, and symbols of friendship.
For some students, the ideal world was calm and peaceful; for others, playful and full of movement. Some imagined a world without worries, some a world where everyone is kind, and others a world with more nature, play, and freedom. What they all shared was the same message: the world they want to see is warm, safe, and filled with goodness.
Through this activity, students had the chance to reflect on the values that matter to them and express them in a creative, age-appropriate way.

Learning Through Play, Colour, and Emotion

Although the activity was artistic in form, its impact went far beyond drawing and colouring. Through discussion and creative work, students learned how to:

  • express their thoughts and emotions,
  • respect different ideas and perspectives,
  • develop creativity and self-confidence,
  • connect imagination with personal values.

While working, they talked about why they chose a certain kind of world, what they feel is missing in the real one, and what they would like to change. In this way, the magic glasses became a tool for reflection, not just an art task.
The workshop showed how much children want to be heard – and how thoughtful their ideas can be, even when expressed through drawings and colours.

The finished artworks were displayed in classrooms and school hallways, creating a small gallery of children’s dreams. Each pair of glasses tells its own story, and together they send a powerful message: changing the world begins with the way we choose to look at it.
At Savremena, we believe that education is not only about acquiring knowledge, but also about developing empathy, creativity, and self-expression. Activities like this help children better understand themselves, others, and the world around them – and remind them that they have the right to imagine it as a better place.
Because even if the glasses are magical only in imagination, the ideas seen through them are very real. 💫
