Learning about patience through the story “The Fairy’s tear”

The activity “Recognition for Teachers” reminded students of the importance of patience, gratitude and mutual respect.

As part of the Vrlinoteka programme, students spent this week learning about the virtue of patience through the story “The Fairy’s Tear” from the book “Summer Buzz with Fairy Sunčica” by Željana Radojičić Lukić. During the class, they discussed what it means to be patient and how this quality helps in everyday situations. Through the example from the story, the students realised that patience is closely connected to understanding, calmness and respect for others. In a simple and relatable way, they learned how this virtue contributes to better learning, collaboration and shared success. The activity was carefully designed to help students develop empathy and mutual understanding.

Recognition for Teachers

In the final part of the class, students participated in the activity “Recognition for Teachers”, expressing how much their teachers’ patience and support mean to them. Each child prepared a special certificate for a teacher and shared a personal message of gratitude. The students made sure their messages were sincere, warm and personal, which made this activity especially emotional. The teachers were touched by the care and words they received, and through this experience, the students learned how to express gratitude in a meaningful and beautiful way. In doing so, they set an example of how true values are nurtured in the classroom.

Nurturing values

The project concluded with an exhibition of students’ work in the Vrlinoteka, so that the messages about the importance of patience would remain visible to everyone. In this way, the students demonstrated that they understand the importance of nurturing values that build trust and support. Activities like this develop emotional intelligence, strengthen unity and contribute to a positive school atmosphere. VrliNOTeka is designed as a space that inspires children to learn in a different way — through experience, emotions and personal involvement. This workshop once again showed that patience and gratitude are values that connect students and teachers in their shared mission of learning and growth.

Patience as the foundation of relationships

Through activities like this, students learn to recognise and appreciate the effort and time of others. Developing awareness of the importance of patience contributes not only to more effective learning but also to building healthy relationships between peers and between students and teachers. When children understand that patience is an essential part of every shared goal, they cooperate more easily, listen to one another and respect differences. In this way, the school becomes a place where knowledge is not only transmitted through lessons but also through lasting values that shape life.
