As soon as they picked up their papers, pencils, and markers, the students immersed themselves in the creative process. Some closely followed the original, trying to replicate every detail as faithfully as possible, while others let their imagination lead the way — drawing rockets in different colors, balloons shaped like planets they invented, extra characters, stars, suns, or entire galaxies.
While the artworks were taking shape, the classroom was filled with wonderful comments:
✨ “Look at my Saturn!”
✨ “My rocket flies even faster!”
✨ “I made a whole new world — look!”
Students proudly showed their creations to one another, comparing, discussing, and encouraging each other. The photos clearly show how proud they are of what they created. That joy of creation was just as important as the final result.
This artistic activity was far more than drawing — it was a process of developing visual thinking, observation skills, fine motor coordination, and a sense of composition. But even more importantly, it was a space where children learned to trust themselves, embrace their own style, and proudly stand behind what they create.
Art activities at Savremena are not merely decorative — they play a deep pedagogical role. Through this task, students learned to observe, interpret, translate emotion into color and shape, and express what they feel and think. This is a precious part of their development, because imagination is the foundation of innovative thinking and one of the most valuable tools a child can carry into the future.
Teachers were there to guide, inspire, and introduce new techniques, but the main protagonists were — the students themselves. Their work showed how original children can be when given freedom, how detailed they become when something truly interests them, and how quickly they progress when they work in an environment that motivates and supports them.
At the end of the lesson, all artworks were displayed, and the children proudly stood in front of their little “cosmic stories,” showing them to friends and discussing different ideas. It was a moment that filled the classroom with pride, smiles, and a sense of togetherness.
