Holiday Magic at Savremena

Days of togetherness, creativity and small joys to remember

Throughout December, the school was filled with a festive atmosphere and the warmth created by shared activities, creative work and genuine children’s joy. Through a variety of activities, students had the opportunity to connect, express their imagination and take part in shaping an environment that nurtures care, solidarity and a sense of community. Each activity carried its own emotion, yet they were all united by the same idea – the joy of giving and a strong feeling of belonging to the school community.

Secret Santa – the joy of giving and keeping a secret

Students enthusiastically began the Secret Santa game, carefully preparing gifts for one another while making sure to keep the identity of their chosen person a secret. Gift opening was filled with smiles, excitement and playful attempts not to reveal who the giver was. The game will continue over several days, followed by a joint reveal and the final gift, further encouraging patience, responsibility and the joy of anticipation.

When imagination and sustainability come together

Gifts made from shoeboxes were created through the collaboration of first-grade students and students from class 6-3. Working together, they showed that seemingly ordinary materials can be transformed into creative and beautiful items. This activity carried an important message – instead of being thrown away, materials can be reused and given a new purpose. The handmade gifts now decorate the space beneath the Christmas tree, reminding everyone of the importance of caring for the environment and the value of shared creativity.

Santa Claus in the art classroom

During art lessons, students focused on drawing Santa Claus, exploring festive themes through colours, shapes and personal expression. Each artwork was unique, and together they formed a playful and heartwarming gallery of children’s imagination. Through this activity, students were able to freely express their creativity while contributing to the festive appearance of the school space.

When parents and children join forces

A special warmth to the holiday season was brought by the mothers, who joined their children in decorating the Christmas tree and classrooms. They planned the activities and provided the materials, while students had the opportunity to personalise the decorations themselves. The result was a collection of unique ornaments, created with care and joy, which now adorn the school tree and highlight the strength of cooperation between school and family.

Letters travelling to Santa Claus

First-grade students wrote letters to Santa Claus, carefully choosing words to express their wishes and thoughts. They made and decorated their own envelopes, giving the entire process a personal and emotional touch. Teachers made sure that the letters would “reach the right hands,” while the activity supported the development of writing skills, imagination and emotional expression among the youngest students.

The New Year’s Wishes Wall – messages for the year ahead

As the final part of the holiday activities, first-grade students created a New Year’s Wishes Wall in the school hallway. The wall is open to all students and staff, who are invited to leave a message, wish or kind thought for the coming year. This shared space has become a symbol of optimism, hope and mutual support, reminding us that school is not only a place of learning, but also a community where dreams are shared.
