Handball Fun Week with RK ''Novi Beograd''

When Professionals Come to School

Last week, in collaboration with RK ”Novi Beograd” , one of the most successful sports clubs in Serbia, students of all grades had the opportunity to participate in Handball Fun Week – a special program that turned physical education into an intensive introduction to handball as a sport, but also to everything it brings – dynamics, teamwork, speed of reaction, and the joy of the game.

Throughout the entire week, physical education classes were dedicated to handball. Coaches from RK ”Novi Beograd” led training sessions, taught children basic movements, game rules, techniques of passing, shooting, and defense. But they didn’t just transfer knowledge – they transferred energy, enthusiasm, and love for a sport that is tradition, identity, and pride in Novi Beograd.

Children enjoyed themselves. They ran, jumped, passed balls, defended goals, tried to master techniques they had seen on television. And they understood that handball is not just a sport – it’s a game that requires speed, resourcefulness, cooperation, and precision. And that above all, it’s incredibly fun.

Handball as Part of Identity

RK ‘’Novi Beograd’’ is not just any club. It’s an institution that has grown into one of the most successful sports collectives in Serbia, with a rich history, top-level players, and results measured at the European level. A club that cultivates handball not only as a competitive sport, but also as part of culture, community, and the identity of Novi Beograd.

The collaboration between Savremena Primary School and RK Novi Beograd is not accidental. Both collectives share the same value – dedication to quality, youth development, and the belief that the best results are achieved when work is done seriously, but with joy. Handball Fun Week was an opportunity for children to experience what it means to work with professionals, learn from those who live the sport daily, and understand that success in sports comes through effort, discipline, and teamwork.

More Than a Game – Development Through Sport

Handball Fun Week wasn’t just fun. It was an opportunity for students to develop motor skills, coordination, reaction speed, and team spirit. Handball requires speed of thinking, making decisions in a split second, cooperation with teammates, and the ability to adapt to situations that change at every moment. All of these are skills that aren’t used only on the court – they build character, self-confidence, and the ability to deal with challenges.

Coaches from RK Novi Beograd adapted training to students’ ages, ensuring that every child, regardless of previous sports experience, could participate and enjoy. The focus wasn’t on competition or achieving results – the focus was on the joy of movement, discovering the sport, and understanding that physical activity can be exciting, dynamic, and inspiring. Handball Fun Week showed how important it is to bring professionals into school and give students the opportunity to experience sport the way it’s lived by those dedicated to it. The collaboration with Rukometni klub Novi Beograd brought something that regular physical education classes cannot – direct contact with coaches who know how sport is learned, how motivation is built, and how love for the game is transferred.

Students learned more than basic handball techniques last week. They learned that sport is not just physical activity – it’s a way of thinking, a way of cooperating, a way to overcome one’s own limits. And that when you play with professionals, the game becomes something more – it becomes an experience that lasts.

We thank Rukometni klub Novi Beograd for their partnership and dedication, and Savremenci – for their energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to try something new. Handball Fun Week has ended, but the love for handball – is just beginning.
