During the Fun and Study Time (FAST) program, students at Savremena Primary School spend time at school in a way that is both fun and inspiring. Unlike traditional classes, FAST isn’t strictly structured — it combines freedom of choice with carefully designed activities that build independence and a love for learning.

This part of the day gives students a sense of safety and freedom to explore what interests them most, boosting their motivation and self-discipline. Many students see this time as their time at school — a moment to relax, connect with friends, and learn at their own pace.

 FAST is designed as a concept that blends play, creativity, free time, and gentle learning. Instead of being just a waiting period between classes and going home, FAST offers structured yet flexible activities that encourage curiosity and social skills.

The program includes reading corners, creative workshops, educational games, and quiet zones for focused work. In this way, FAST becomes an essential part of the school day rather than just an addition. Students learn to use their time wisely and productively — a skill that will benefit them for years to come.

 Today’s FAST activity was dedicated to reading books the children chose themselves — from adventure stories and fairy tales to comics, encyclopaedias, and picture books. Students eagerly picked up books not because they had to, but because they wanted to.

That’s what makes FAST special: learning happens naturally, without pressure or grades. In this atmosphere, children develop a love for reading, expand their vocabulary, and strengthen their focus. This activity also showed them how reading can be a source of joy, inspiration, and calm.

 The FAST space is specially designed to be warm and inspiring. Students sat on soft cushions, blankets, and in comfy corners that turned the classroom into a world of imagination and exploration.

Some read alone, others in pairs or small groups, sharing their impressions about the stories and characters. This setting nurtures expression, active listening, and mutual respect. When children learn in a comfortable and welcoming environment, their focus naturally improves, and school becomes a place where they truly want to be.

 Although FAST time is often dedicated to calm activities, it also inspires connection and teamwork. Students recommended books to one another, talked about their favourite parts, and discovered new stories together.

Through this, they build empathy, communication skills, and a sense of belonging, as reading becomes a bridge connecting their ideas and interests. These shared moments help create a positive school atmosphere and encourage collaboration. FAST is becoming a cherished part of our school identity — a space where children grow, learn, and enjoy every moment.
