Discover Why the FAST Program at Savremena is the Sweetest Part of the Day

Teamwork Leads to Sweet Success – Fun and Learning in the FAST Program

At Savremena osnovna škola, there is always a drive to create experiences that go beyond traditional teaching, and the children in the FAST (Fun and Study Time) program exemplify this best. During one afternoon, students, along with their teachers, embarked on a culinary adventure – making American pancakes.

Creative Learning Through Fun

As part of the FAST program, this activity aimed to provide students with the opportunity to develop essential skills that extend beyond conventional classroom learning through enjoyable and practical tasks. Under the careful guidance of the teaching staff, the children learned how to make American pancakes and recognised the importance of accurately measuring ingredients, organising themselves in a team, and collaborating towards a common goal. The pancake-making process became an opportunity for developing independence and creativity, as well as a sense of teamwork.

While preparing the pancakes, the students quickly grasped the principle of working in a group – while some carefully measured flour and other ingredients, others skillfully handled the mixer, and a third team expertly cooked the pancakes. This collective activity served as both a culinary lesson and a chance for the children to practice coordination, communication, and responsibility skills that will be useful in their daily lives.

At the end of the day, as they savoured the aroma and taste of freshly baked pancakes, the children realised that the most important lesson was the value of teamwork and community. The FAST program once again proved how fun and learning go hand in hand, and Savremena osnovna škola demonstrates that essential knowledge is gained outside the classroom through creative activities that prepare children for future challenges.
