Conference on supporting gifted students

Professional development for nurturing young talents

Teachers from Savremena Primary School, Ivana Jovičić and Branka Milićević, participated in a professional development event dedicated to enhancing the school’s Section for Gifted Students. The conference, “Non-formal Educational Methods in Supporting Giftedness,” brought together prominent experts in education and psychology, who shared the latest techniques and approaches for working with talented students. The goal of the event was to acquire practical knowledge that can be immediately applied in the classroom to develop students’ potential. The teachers had the opportunity to exchange experiences with colleagues from other schools and learn how to motivate gifted students through innovative teaching methods. This professional development is another step in ensuring that Savremena School remains a leader in education and support for talented children.

Focus on non-formal methods

The conference highlighted the application of non-formal methods in education, which help students develop creative thinking, research skills, and self-confidence. The teachers learned how to enable gifted students to explore their potential through hands-on tasks, workshops, and projects in ways that suit their individual needs. These methods emphasize personalized learning, experiential activities, and freedom of expression, which are key to success when working with talented children. The acquired knowledge will be implemented at Savremena, further strengthening the Section for Gifted Students.

Sharing experiences and ideas

In addition to lectures, the teachers had the chance to discuss challenges and solutions in working with gifted children with colleagues and experts. Sharing examples of best practices demonstrated how innovative and creative approaches can enhance teaching and motivate students to perform at their best. Discussions included ways to monitor student progress and strategies to support the emotional and social development of gifted learners. Such interactions allow teachers to refresh their methods and introduce new ideas already applied in schools across the region.

Supporting talent development

The professional development event demonstrated the importance of continuous investment in teacher growth. Savremena Primary School ensures that gifted students receive support, challenges, and opportunities to advance through such initiatives. The teachers will apply their new knowledge in daily teaching, designing tasks and projects that stimulate curiosity and research skills. In this way, Savremena confirms its status as a school that nurtures talents, provides high-quality education, and helps each child reach their full potential.
