Classroom Without Walls: Savremena’s Year 5 and Year 6 Students Enjoyed Košutnjak
The first September field trip filled with friendship, sports, nature, and a special surprise
Year 5 and Year 6 students of Savremena Primary School started the new school year in a special way – through the traditional “Classroom Without Walls” at Košutnjak. This excursion was an opportunity for students to socialise, play, and develop team spirit, surrounded by greenery and fresh air. A particular highlight for Year 6 students was a surprise encounter – they had the chance to meet and spend time with famous Serbian football player Aleksandar Mitrović.
At Savremena, “Classroom Without Walls” represents a unique concept of learning outside the classroom – in nature and through practical activities. It has become a beautiful tradition of the school, held every year during the first week of September, to help students embark on their new school adventure in a relaxed, curious, and energetic way.

Sports games and team spirit
At Košutnjak, both Year 5 and Year 6 students enjoyed a variety of sports activities that encouraged cooperation, mutual trust, and togetherness. From team games to individual challenges, every child found an activity where they felt safe, engaged, and happy.
Learning through experience in nature
Spending time outdoors enabled students to learn in a different way – through play, movement, and socialising. They discovered how knowledge and skills can also be acquired outside the classroom, in a real-world environment, while developing creativity and independence.
A memorable encounter with Aleksandar Mitrović
For Year 6 students, this excursion brought an unforgettable moment – meeting and spending time with Aleksandar Mitrović, a football player they see as a sporting role model. Mitrović shared some motivational words with the children, took photos with them, and emphasised the importance of sport, teamwork, and perseverance.
A tradition that connects generations
“Classroom Without Walls” has, for years, been bringing students together at the beginning of every school year, becoming a symbol of the school’s educational practice. In this way, students connect with nature, their teachers, and their peers, while building a sense of community and love for their school.
