Celebrating the European day of languages at Savremena primary school
Languages are our windows to the world of diverse cultures
At Savremena Primary School, September 26 was a day dedicated to language, culture, and understanding among nations. This year, the European Day of Languages was marked through various activities that allowed students to engage in exploring the richness of languages and the diversity of European cultures.
In Serbian language and literature classes, students had the opportunity to become acquainted with important literary works from different European languages and discussed the impact of language on identity and culture. Through interesting discussions and analyses, the children understood how language represents not only a means of communication but also a wealth of traditions and customs of nations.
Language as a bridge among cultures
In civil education class, fifth-grade students celebrated the European Day of Languages through creative activities under the slogan “Languages for Peace.” This initiative allowed them to explore different languages and understand the importance of knowing foreign languages for building mutual trust and understanding.
Students divided into groups and researched the languages of various European countries. Each group presented its language through interesting facts, words and phrases, as well as through songs and games. These interactive activities confirmed that language is a bridge that connects people, enabling them to overcome barriers and differences. The atmosphere in the classrooms was filled with joy, laughter, and creativity as students enthusiastically participated in all activities.
This day reminds us of the significance of language as a means of communication and connection, encouraging students to become active and responsible citizens of the world. At Savremena Primary School, we believe that knowing languages is the key to opening doors to different cultures and new opportunities.
