Bees, an Experiment and Cookies

Petra from Class III-1 in the Role of Big Sister

As part of the “Big Sister, Little Sister” project, student Petra Macura from Class III-1 visited the students of Class I-3 and gave them an unforgettable experience through an engaging story, a fun experiment and – of course – a sweet treat at the end.

Petra began by sharing fascinating facts about bees – their work, their importance in nature, and how honey is made. The first graders listened attentively, asked questions and eagerly absorbed the new information. But the lesson didn’t stop there – with the help of their teacher, Petra led a simple experiment in which the students tested whether the honey provided was natural or industrially processed.

Learning Through Experience and Sweet Moments

The experiment was both exciting and interactive – the children observed how honey behaves when mixed with water and drew conclusions based on their observations. The classroom was filled with curiosity, laughter and exclamations like: “It’s really natural honey!” and “I want to try too!”

To wrap up the activity, Petra prepared a sweet surprise – everyone who wanted to was treated to a small cookie, a symbolic reward for their attention and participation.

Togetherness Through Knowledge and Play

This activity once again demonstrated the great value of peer-learning projects – older students learn how to take responsibility and share knowledge, while younger students joyfully embrace new information when it’s presented in a fun and relatable way.

Primary School Savremena is proud of Petra and all the students who, through their dedication and creativity, make the school a place of learning, unity and joy.
