A new extracurricular activity at Savremena: handball with RK Novi Beograd professionals
Twice a week, students will develop sporting skills, teamwork and healthy habits through professionally led handball sessions
A new extracurricular activity has begun at Savremena Primary School, giving students another opportunity to stay active, explore their interests and enjoy quality time with their peers. Handball has now become part of the school’s extracurricular programme, with sessions led by professional coaches from RK Novi Beograd.
Twice a week, students will take part in age-appropriate activities designed to introduce them to the fundamentals of handball while developing coordination, fitness and technique. At the same time, they will learn the importance of cooperation, discipline, responsibility and persistence.
Activities like these are an important part of school life at Savremena. Alongside the knowledge they gain in the classroom, students have opportunities to discover new interests, develop different talents and find areas in which they feel confident and motivated.
Working with RK Novi Beograd professionals allows students to learn correct techniques and positive sporting habits from the very beginning. Handball also teaches them how to function as part of a team, trust one another and understand how much a shared result depends on every individual contribution.

Twice a week with professional guidance
Handball sessions will take place twice a week, giving students the continuity they need to develop their skills gradually. Guided by RK Novi Beograd coaches, they will learn movement, passing, ball handling, shooting and the fundamentals of team play.
Regular physical activity is important for children’s development, while team sports offer additional value by encouraging communication, cooperation and respect for others. On the court, students learn to make quick decisions, pay attention to their teammates and take responsibility when needed.
In this way, handball becomes much more than simply another sporting activity. It becomes an opportunity for students to develop valuable skills through movement, play and shared experience.
By cooperating with professionals from different fields, Savremena enables students to enjoy high-quality activities within their everyday school environment, making extracurricular programmes a natural extension of their overall development.
Sport as an important part of all-round development
By adding handball to its extracurricular programme, Savremena continues to broaden the opportunities available to students throughout their education. The aim is for every child to explore different areas and discover what motivates them, whether that is science, art, technology or sport.
Handball develops coordination, quick reactions, spatial awareness and teamwork, while also teaching students how to handle both victories and defeats, remain persistent and understand that progress is built through regular effort.
With two sessions each week led by RK Novi Beograd coaches, students will have an opportunity to develop their abilities while enjoying movement, socialising and team play.
For some, handball may become a favourite extracurricular activity. For others, it could be the first step towards taking the sport more seriously. Most importantly, every new experience gives students another opportunity to grow, build confidence and discover what they are capable of achieving.
