Today, the lower grade students of Primary School Savremena spent a beautiful day outdoors as part of the environmental initiative “A Tree for the Future”, organized by the 1% Foundation. Each class was assigned a tree they had planted in previous months, and today they returned to visit, take care of, and mark them.

In the spirit of caring for nature, the students proudly checked on the progress of their trees, watered them, and decorated them with wooden rings marked with their class symbols – a sign of belonging and responsibility. The sunny and bright weather made the day even more enjoyable, adding to the cheerful and relaxed atmosphere.

The “A Tree for the Future” project aims to develop ecological awareness and a sense of long-term environmental responsibility among young learners. Each planted tree carries its own story – a story of growth, nurturing, and care. That’s why the students approached their trees with great attention, noticing changes and recalling the moment of planting.

Labeling the trees with wooden rings engraved with class identifiers further strengthened the bond between the students and their trees. Each class now has “its own” tree, which they will continue to watch grow throughout their school years – like a true green friend on their educational journey.

The sunny weather and pleasant ambiance turned this day into a true little celebration in nature. Some students even prepared recitations, dedicating poems to their trees, the beauty of nature, and the importance of protecting the environment. The air was filled with smiles, applause, and a great sense of pride – shared by both students and teachers.

Spending time outdoors was also a great opportunity for students to relax, bond, and connect in a new way – through a shared goal and a symbolic friendship with nature.

This inspiring activity shows just how important it is to teach children from an early age about the values of protecting nature and taking collective responsibility. At Primary School Savremena, we nurture the relationship with nature not just as part of the curriculum, but as a vital element of everyday life and personal growth.
